Claiming Utility Arkansas Heat Pump Rebates
The rules for your discount come from your electric company. Most utility programs say you must hire an approved installer before work begins.
- Customers of Southwestern Electric Power Company may claim as much as $2,200 under the SWEPCO HVAC Incentive Program when they hire an approved contractor. Before the work starts, your installer takes the discount off the quote, and the utility may then inspect the unit.
- At participating Lowe's stores, Entergy Arkansas offers up to $500 off AO Smith water heaters that qualify, under its Point of Purchase Solutions.
- Oklahoma Gas and Electric has shut its Arkansas HVAC Replacement Rebate for 2026, but the program comes back in 2027. Once it opens, your invoice, a photo of the equipment label, and the official efficiency certificate must be sent within 30 days after installation.
Arkansas income rules plus free home weatherization
About $105 million was set aside by the United States Department of Energy for the Arkansas Home Energy Rebates Program. Neither the appliance nor the whole-home discounts are open yet. Appliance rebates are reserved by federal rules for low-income families earning below 80% of Area Median Income, which is the local midpoint income. Once the state launches, moderate-income households earning 80% to 150% of the local midpoint will also qualify. Signing up for the Arkansas Energy Office email list is a way to get an alert when applications open.
Right now, free home energy upgrades are available in all 75 counties through the Weatherization Assistance Program. If your household earns no more than 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, five community action agencies and nonprofit groups are there to serve you. A home qualifies automatically if a member receives Supplemental Security Income. The utility-funded Arkansas Weatherization Program is also paired with this aid by local agencies, so more home efficiency work gets completed.
Federal tax credit changes and heating fuels
Just over half of Arkansas households use electricity as their main heat source, and almost four in 10 mainly use natural gas. Air conditioning is used in nearly every home in the state. Heating and cooling are both handled by a single heat pump system.
Rebate amounts depend on which state your home sits in, so check your utility territory rules first. Arkansas gets up to $2,200 from Southwestern Electric Power Company, while its Louisiana and Texas territories get $3,500. Meanwhile, duct sealing, insulation, and tune-ups get discounts from Entergy Arkansas Home Energy Solutions, but a new heat pump is not covered.
If your equipment went into service after 31 December 2025, the federal 25C energy tax credit does not apply. Under Public Law 119-21, Congress ended this tax credit early, so utility discounts are now your main way to save.
Common Questions About Arkansas Heat Pump Rebates
Will heat pumps get federal tax credits in 2026?
No, the federal 25C tax credit cannot be claimed for a heat pump you install in 2026. Under the One, Big, Beautiful Bill, which was signed on July 4, 2025, that credit ended on 31 December 2025. This cutoff was confirmed by the Internal Revenue Service in Fact Sheet FS-2025-05, dated August 21, 2025.
What rebates does Entergy offer homeowners in Arkansas?
Single-family homes qualify for Home Energy Solutions if they are at least one year old and have ducted central heating and cooling. A trade ally, which is what the program calls an approved contractor, does a home energy assessment and takes instant savings off your invoice. Air sealing and ceiling insulation are covered, along with system tune-ups and direct-install items. The 2026 program manual also lets you get instant discounts on heat pump water heaters at the store.
Will heat pump rebates in Arkansas go away?
Even after the federal tax credit ended, utility and state rebates are still going. Once its Arkansas rebate reopens in 2027, Oklahoma Gas and Electric will let households claim as many as two replacements per home. The invoice for your installation must be dated between January 1 and November 1 of the program year. A state rebate program is still being prepared for future launch by the Arkansas Energy Office.
In Arkansas, how do I learn my exact heat pump rebate amount?
On its website, Southwestern Electric Power Company does not list the efficiency tiers. Only Arkansas contractors with approval may offer the discount, so the quote you need must come from a participating installer. The contractor will pair your home with a qualifying high-efficiency unit, and your estimate will show the exact rebate.
